Jaylen Cocklin

Jaylen Cocklin is a rising senior at Harvard University, majoring in History and Literature and African-American Studies. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Jaylen is dedicated to youth empowerment and community development.

He is currently the Director of Leaders! Summer Urban Program, where he oversees initiatives that develop nearly 100 high school students into civic-minded leaders through leadership development, peer-to-peer fellowship, and college readiness programs. He is also a frequent volunteer in the Dorchester and Roxbury communities, working on various local projects and mentoring youth. On campus, Jaylen is deeply involved as a research partner at the Radcliffe Institute, where he contributes to projects on forced labor and the influence of history on current policies. He co-chairs Black Community Leaders for the 2024-2025 school year and has been actively involved in the Black Men's Forum, Black Pre-Law Association, and Greener Scott Scholars.

Jaylen is passionate about advocating for Black people's rights and aims to pursue a career in law and academia to challenge unjust laws and rectify historical whitewashing.
