Baran Mensah

Baran Mensah is a senior at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduating with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Music. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Baran’s family moved back to their home of Ghana when he was four. It was there in Ghana that Baran was raised, spending 15 years in his native home. He then set out to the United States for college in pursuit of academic excellence.
During his time at MIT, Baran has been widely involved on campus serving in roles in Chocolate City and Sakata Afrique, MIT’s premier AfroCaribbean dance group. He has also worked as a Tutor in the Talented Scholar’s Resource Room under the Office of Minority Education and is currently an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the NEET program.
Having worked as a Facilitator for MIT’s summer program Interphase EDGE, a Research Intern in the Walsh Lab in Harvard SEAS, and as an Mission Operations Intern for NASA JPL, Baran’s experiences have pushed him to pursue a Master’s of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering once he graduates.
